Role:

Social Workers play a vital role in conducting abuse and neglect investigations, submitting court petitions for Child in Need of Care (CINC) removals during business hours, and participating in court hearings. They provide family preservation services, prepare home studies for CINC adoptions, and contribute as essential members of the CINC Team. Furthermore, Social Workers are required to be available for after-hours duty and on-call responsibilities related to abuse and neglect investigations and urgent foster home situations, which may necessitate court petitions for after-hours CINC removals.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Minimum Requirements:

Driving: Valid Kansas Driver's license free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier or willing to obtain within 90-days of employment.

Experience: At least six months of direct human services experience; specifically, case management, child welfare, and/or foster care.

Education: Bachelor's degree in social work or human services related field.

Interpersonal Skills : A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality to handle a high level of sensitive and
    confidential information.
  • Interest and basic knowledge of Native lifestyle and culture.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography, and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology.

  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
