**Job Description:**
- Provides physical therapy services for acute care patients, skilled nursing unit residents, and outpatients.
- Evaluates patient needs and establishes physical therapy treatment plans and goals for each patient.
- Carries out prescribed treatments as ordered by physicians.
- Documents patient treatment and reports progress to the prescribing physician.
- Participates in patient and family education and patient care conferences.
- Assists department manager in performing quality measures and monitors department problems.
- Responsible for observing departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensures the care of the facility and equipment related to the physical therapy department.
- Maintains professional standards regarding treatment procedures and ethics.
- Maintains the safety of property and patients under treatment.
- Assists department manager in assessing department staffing needs.
- Maintains all departmental records in accordance with department policies.
- Assists department manager in estimating the needs of the department and ordering supplies and equipment when necessary.
- Assists in training new hires in the therapy department.
- Must be compliant with organizational policies and procedures and related departmental procedures.
- Follows all HIPAA regulations as outlined in the HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
**Physical / Mental Demands:**
- Work closely with patients across all age categories with care, compassion, and special regard for age-specific considerations.
- Requires a full range of body motion, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work in stressful situations and handle emergency/crisis situations in accordance with policy.
- Interactions are subject to many interruptions from multiple calls and inquiries.
**Working Conditions:**
- Work is performed in a critical access/rural health clinic environment, involving frequent contact with patients, physicians, and other staff.
- Potential risk of exposure to hazards from bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, chemicals, and other conditions common to the clinical environment.
- Safety policies and good health practices are expected to be understood and observed.
