An upcoming retirement has prompted our search for a Director of Finance .

Located on over 55 acres, and home to approximately 330 residents, Fairhaven has a 96-bed intermediate care nursing center in addition to sheltered license supportive care, independent living units, and 112 duplexes. Our mission is to provide a comfortable lifestyle and exceptional care which enhances quality of life in a manner that glorifies God.

The Director of Finance position combines operational and strategic roles, manages accounting and financial control functions, and establishes a financial strategy for the long-term success of Fairhaven as a distinctively Christian retirement center.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises the Accounting Manager and Billing Specialist and indirectly supervises the Accounting Assistant and Business Office Assistant. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure.
  • Coordinates, analyzes, and reports Fairhaven’s financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections, and other special projects as required).
  • Prepares short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties.
  • Oversees audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms, and review firms' performance.
  • Assists department heads in the preparation of and approves assigned departmental budgets.
  • Maintains responsibility for, and/or oversight of, all finance, accounting, and reporting functions.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements:

  • Strong support of our core values and our mission statement and the ability and desire to bring our Christian ideals forward; comfort in working in a Christian retirement center environment.
  • Physical condition allowing for normal office duties.
  • Excellent interpretive and analytical skills.
  • Computer knowledge necessary to perform duties; thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in Excel a must.
  • Ability to communicate to staff, residents, and the public in English both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and days and respond to urgent matters if they arise after hours.
  • Ability to organize, delegate, supervise, discipline, praise, manage, and lead.

Experience & Education or Skills Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Licensed or Registered CPA.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience; long-term care experience helpful.
  • Experience in working with external auditors and preparation of annual budgets.
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience.
