Savannah State University is seeking a highly motivated, visionary, and charismatic leader to serve as its next President. This individual will be a transformative figure, guiding the institution toward new heights of distinction while honoring and building upon its rich history.
Savannah State University is the first public historically black college and university in the state of Georgia and the first institution of higher learning in the city of Savannah. The school was established in 1890 as a result of the Second Morrill Land Grant Act, which mandated that southern and border states develop land-grant colleges for black citizens.
Savannah State University seeks a transformational leader with the vision, capability, and drive to inspire the campus community to higher levels of eminence. The next president will possess a record of successful past visionary leadership, a proven track record of achieving and advancing academic excellence, and a history of continuous development of a strong leadership team, faculty, staff, and students. The next president will have a record of success with institutions or organizations of similar size and complexity. Individuals with the requisite leadership experience in education, industry, business, government, the military, or other sectors will be given full consideration.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The Board of Regents invites letters of nomination, applications (letter of interest, complete CV, and references), or expressions of interest to be submitted to AGB Search. Applications should be received by November 8, 2024 , for full consideration. Materials will be reviewed confidentially immediately and continue until the appointment is made.
