This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role occasionally requires entrance into a manufacturing environment, around moving machinery and equipment. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn at all times in the manufacturing plant.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Proposals.

a. Create proposal for new parts from customer print.

b. Indicate appropriate machine tool, material, cycle time/ parts per hour, tooling cost, subsequent operations, and outside services needed.

2. Documentation, tool layout, and “offset print”.

a. Create tool layout sheet specifying all tooling and hardware needed to setup a specific job in a specific machine tool. Also identifying Autocrib inventory number for perishable tooling so operators can locate appropriate cutting tool.

b. Create color coded “offset print” to communicate to the machine operator what tool effects what geometry on the piece part so the operator can make appropriate adjustments to keep part within specification.

c. Maintain and update layouts and offset prints to keep current with process improvements and changes.

3. C.N.C. programming, process engineering.

a. Create machining process.

i. Sequence of operations.

ii. Machine tool selection.

iii. Cutting tool selection.

iv. Work holding selection.

v. Appropriate machining process’s to achieve required results i.e. drill, ream, bore, burnish, broach, single point thread, tap, roll thread, polygon turn, transmit mill, polar interpolation etc.

vi. Determine appropriate machining parameters (speeds, feeds, and DOC) based on work piece material and cutting tool material and cutting tool geometry.

vii. Create C.N.C. program using Partmaker or Espirit CAD CAM software. For C.N.C. turning centers, swiss type C.N.C. turning centers, and C.N.C. multispindle. Manufacturers Index, Miyano, Star, Mori Seiki, Okuma, Daewoo, Takamaz, and ZPS. Provide all C.N.C. programs for 33 C.N.C. machines. Siemens 840D, Fanuc, Okuma OSP, and Mitsubishi controls and programming languages.

viii. Setup part files in the Zoller tool presetter for all Index and Star ST38 processes.

4. Train personnel on machine setup, machine operation, and machine repair for all Index and C.N.C. department machinery.

5. Continuous Improvement.

a. Monitor and improve cycle time and process capability on all C.N.C. machines.

6. Perform machine setups when department is behind or when setup person is absent.

a. Setup and prove out new processes and more complex piece parts.

7. Corrective action and problem solving.

a. Attend corrective action meetings with quality control to provide technical solutions to process inefficiencies and quality concerns.

8. Troubleshoot and repair machinery.

a. Seek advice from machine manufacturer when unable to resolve issues ourselves.

b. Knowledge of Siemens Step 7 PLC program required to track down malfunctions within the machine’s logic system.

c. Locate and secure most economical replacement components needed for machine repair.

d. Coordinate repair and re-manufacture of mechanical and electronic machine components.

9. Manufacture repair and replacement parts for machine tools.
