Hourly Wage Range: $20.62- $27.84
*This role is exclusively on-site , requiring daily commutes to the office. Therefore, candidates must reside in the Detroit/Metro-Detroit area before employment*
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to return the city's blighted and vacant properties to productive use. We utilize a variety of Sales programs to make homeownership and land purchases accessible to Detroiters. Plus, we take our commitment to revitalization one step further with our Compliance and Nuisance Abatement programs, requiring renovation and occupancy to improve neighborhoods, eliminate blight, and combat real estate speculation. The Detroit Land Bank Authority works directly with individual buyers, as well as Community Partner organizations and developers for projects big and small.

The Title Review Processor position entails researching real estate documents, examining/reviewing titles, and documentation such as mortgages, liens, judgments, plat maps, tax information, and summarizing recorded documents that affect property titles, in addition to other duties, as assigned.
The Ideal candidate will have a good understanding of title, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and be detail intensive.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examining title reports to determine property ownership, lien priority, outstanding taxes and other delinquent amounts and defects in title.
- Update DLBA system with the title summaries.
- Communicating with clients, title companies and external City partners.
- Communicating with internal Attorneys to cure title issues.
- Collect and submit BSEED release requests and follow-up on requests with the Internal Revenue Service and Building Safety Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED)
- Retrieve FOIA packets & any other documents needed from the Wayne County office.
- Liaison with Compliance to monitor and process Reconveyances and Release of Interests
- Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent: associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- Prior experience in customer service, or related field
- One (1) year of title processing, examining or related experience is preferred.
- Ability to handle a large volume of files and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical thinking, research ability and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and be able to multitask.
- Qualified candidates must demonstrate excellent computer, organizational and time management skills.
- Possess experience in all aspects of title - be able to analyze and understand chain of title and defects in the chain.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt to changing client requirements.
- Superior decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail as you read and extract information from the documents, then enter that information into a report or software without error.
- Clear and concise writing skills, the ability to translate complicated title situations into simple-to-understand explanations for the client.
- Must be able to walk or use City transportation to travel to the Wayne County offices or city municipal offices.
