Job Description:

Position: Financial Analyst
Location: Finance Department

Salary: $79,172-$86,513 (4 steps)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews collective bargaining agreements and projects costs of proposals and implementation.
  2. Assists in maintaining a uniform system for financial planning and operations and prepares Schedule 19 for the School Department.
  3. Performs risk analysis; reviews potential liabilities regarding property, casualty, and liability coverage.
  4. Develops strategies to reduce risk exposure.
  5. Monitors the expenditures of funds.
  6. Performs financial analysis for special projects.
  7. Generates extensive financial reports.
  8. Participates in the collective bargaining process.
  9. Participates in all aspects of the annual budget cycle.
  10. Performs a variety of related duties as assigned.

Supervision:
Works under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer and Budget Director.

Requirements:

Preferred Education and Experience:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or business administration preferred, supplemented with 3 - 5 years of experience in governmental finance, preferably at the local level; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

The work environment is typical of a municipal office subject to frequent interruptions. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but working conditions are generally not unpleasant.
