We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our global Vysus Consulting team as Principal Consultant located in Houston, TX. Our global Risk Management Consulting team helps our clients manage and reduce risk across their complex operations.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a strong background in process plant operations and/or offshore operations. In addition to technical expertise, you should be passionate about inspiring clients and driving digital development initiatives, including pre-sales activities, to support the growth of our business. An extensive client network is highly desirable for this position.

In the role of Principal Consultant , you will be responsible for:

  1. Supporting CLIENT process safety and operability review workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, digital HAZOP, SIL, BowTie, FMEA, alarm management, SIMOPS, etc.
  2. Identifying Major Accident Hazards (MAH), Major Accident Events (MAEs), and Safety and Environmental Critical Elements (SECEs) and developing Performance Standards.
  3. Performing risk assessments, Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRAs) for both onshore and offshore industries.

In addition, you will use your:

  1. Technical expertise: Applying in-depth knowledge of process plant and offshore operations to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and propose effective mitigation strategies.
  2. Client engagement skills: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert. Collaborating closely with clients to understand their specific requirements, provide tailored solutions, and deliver exceptional service.
  3. Digital development abilities: Promoting and supporting digital transformation initiatives within the organization and with clients. Identifying opportunities to leverage digital tools, technologies, and data analytics to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of safety studies.
  4. Pre-sales activities knowledge: Participating in pre-sales activities by engaging with potential clients, understanding their needs, and providing technical expertise to develop proposals and win new business opportunities.
  5. Team collaboration skills: Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, safety professionals, project managers, and business development personnel, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
  6. Thought leadership: Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes. Contributing to the development and dissemination of thought leadership materials, white papers, and industry presentations.
  7. Mentoring and training abilities: Providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members, sharing your expertise, and fostering their professional growth.

To be successful in the role, we are looking for you to have:

  1. A master's degree within engineering or related e.g., chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, process/risk management.
  2. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience within oil and gas, (petro)chemicals, or the energy industry.
  3. Consulting, engineering, or operator experience within oil and gas, (petro)chemicals, or the energy industry, preferably in process engineering or process safety roles.
  4. Process simulation and digital twin experience will be a plus.
  5. A basic understanding of process safety and risk management activities related to greenfield and brownfield projects.
  6. An experienced understanding of engineering documentation such as PIDs, PFDs, H&MBs, C&E Charts, and SRS.
  7. Knowledge and experience in green hydrogen and ammonia facilities and in offshore oil and gas is a plus.
  8. The availability to travel for project delivery.
  9. The ability to handle multiple projects/tasks and work well in a team.
