Job Description

The Accounts Payable Specialist I will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of vendor invoices and other financial transactions. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role will contribute to the smooth operation of our finance department, helping to maintain the financial health of Convergint Federal | SigNet Technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review and verify invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents for accuracy and completeness.
  2. Code and process vendor invoices for payment using our accounting software.
  3. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  4. Communicate with vendors, colleagues, and internal departments to address payment inquiries and issues.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records and documentation.
  6. Prepare and process electronic payments for check run.
  7. Assist with month-end closing procedures, including accruals and account reconciliations.
  8. Assist with financial reporting and analysis as required.
  9. Assist with special projects and tasks as directed by the finance manager.
  10. Other duties as assigned within reason of overall job expectations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 3 or more years of relevant experience in accounts payable or a related field.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Deltek Cost Point is a plus).

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
