Job Requirements / Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Electrical Estimator with extensive experience in industrial and petrochemical environments to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical systems and installations on large-scale industrial and petrochemical projects. This role demands in-depth knowledge of electrical systems, strong analytical skills, and familiarity with industry-specific regulations, codes, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Development: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical systems, equipment, labor, and materials on industrial and petrochemical projects, including instrumentation and control systems.
  • Scope Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand project scope, identify potential cost factors, and assess the required materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Cost Calculation: Determine the overall cost of electrical projects by evaluating labor, material costs, subcontractor bids, construction equipment, and other relevant expenses.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit competitive bids based on detailed estimates, including all required documentation, clarifications, and pricing breakdowns.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors, ensuring all proposals align with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Value Engineering: Proactively identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Risk Analysis: Analyze and identify potential risks or discrepancies in project documentation, offering recommendations to mitigate risks and manage contingencies.
  • Industry Compliance: Ensure that all estimates comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry codes and safety standards, including NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and relevant petrochemical safety requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scopes and deliverables. Participate in pre-construction meetings to clarify project expectations.
  • Market Research: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, material pricing, and labor rates in the industrial and petrochemical sectors, ensuring estimates reflect current industry standards.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Provide thorough reports and cost summaries for internal use and client presentations. Maintain detailed records of all estimates, including cost data and assumptions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent work experience in electrical estimation will be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of electrical estimating experience in industrial, petrochemical, or similar environments. Proven ability to estimate multi-million-dollar projects.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance in hazardous industrial and petrochemical settings. Familiarity with high-voltage systems, switchgear, motor controls, instrumentation, and process control systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in estimation software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, McCormick), and other project management tools (e.g., MS Project, EXCEL, Etc.).
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of petrochemical industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices, including PSM (Process Safety Management) and other relevant guidelines.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop accurate estimates and forecasts.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain estimates and cost breakdowns to clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in every aspect of the estimating process.
