Job Overview
TheSenior Manager, Human Resources provides expertise, strategic consultation, and solutions to leaders on all Human Resources (HR) aspects of the business including compliance with federal and state labor laws and regulations, administration of company policies, employee engagement and experience, talent management, workforce planning, hiring, and benefits management. This position will report to theDirector, Operations and will manage theAnalyst, People Operations . This individual will champion Intrepid Ascent’s core values of integrity, creativity, humility, growth, and community in all aspects of their work. Note that this position requires occasional travel to company events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
HR Compliance
- Oversee, monitor, and iteratively improve HR operations, processes, and policies to align with national and state best practices, with input from legal counsel
- Manage Intrepid’s Employee Handbook and related documentation and monitor adherence to company policies; ensure completion of required trainings by staff
- Serve as a subject matter expert, handling sensitive employee inquiries, triaging personnel issues, developing action plans to address them, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communication
People Operations
- Oversee and manage Intrepid’s approach to the employee lifecycle: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, tenure, retention strategies, and exits
- Establish a workforce plan and a talent acquisition process in alignment with company growth goals
- Improve People Operations processes for efficiency, productivity, and employee satisfaction such as open enrollment and benefits management, recruiting, hiring, on and off-boarding, etc.
Employee Experience and Growth
- Design and implement employee development programs and maintain a framework for employee advancement within the organization
- Manage the bi-annual performance review process for all staff
- Train people managers to effectively support their direct reports for improved performance and progressive responsibility
- Develop initiatives for employee engagement and teamwork across the organization, including through the management of staff events such as in-person gatherings
- Align employee experience, and the ways Intrepid teams work together, with company culture and values
- Create methods for feedback and evaluation of company culture and ways to improve and strengthen positive cultural practices
Compensation and Benefits
- Manage Intrepid Ascent’s compensation and benefits program, including market analysis, pay equity compliance, and overall compensation philosophy
- Educate people managers and employees on our pay practices
- With guidance from theDirector, Operations , develop and propose a staff compensation budget during the annual planning process
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources (or similar) or with HR Certification (APRH, PHR, SHRM)
- 8+ years of relevant work experience including Human Resources or People Operations (or similar)
- Experience and proficiency with HRIS systems and sensitive data
- Thorough understanding of HR functions, best practices, and legal compliance requirements (including wage-and-hour, leave of absence, equal pay, FEHA/Title VII, ADA, and EEO compliance) at the federal and state level, especially California
- Ability to focus on the details, while being mindful of the big picture
- Judgment, discretion, and the ability to keep and enforce professional boundaries
- Excellent listening, teaching, written, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience shaping a strong company culture
- Experience with business productivity and communications software and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Qualtrics, Slack, Box)
