The Opportunity

The Casualty Claims Client Manager will deliver comprehensive Claim expertise throughout the entire Munich Re Claim Organization in order to lead efforts to provide significant financial contributions in core claim handling, strong relationship building in external client management, timely and insightful internal business support and competitively distinguishing Claim products and services.
Core accountabilities include :

  • Expertly manage all aspects of the most complex, challenging and high exposure casualty insurance claims, including by preparing strategies for settlement negotiations, mediations, arbitrations and/or trials.
  • Build strong relationships with, anticipate challenges of and provide creative solutions for insureds; serve as a focal point of contact in coordinating MR US actions with respect to clients' casualty claim activity, consistent with the client centric focus of the MR Group, Business Units and Corporate Centers.
  • Professionally represent MR US and the company in meetings with external clients, other Munich Re Group entities, and industry groups, and do so in a manner that favorably reflects upon Munich Re and/or distinguishes Munich Re from its competitors.
  • Develop and maintain a systematic process for clearly and effectively communicating insights and feedback regarding specific and general coverage, loss, line of business, pricing, and/or risk characteristics to client managers, underwriters, actuaries and any other related claim personnel.
  • Prepare curriculum and facilitate training efforts within and outside the Company, and serve as a technical expert, coach and resource to all employees.
  • Influence without authority and create a team oriented environment, lead by example and promote and encourage change to enhance the process of achieving MR US goals and scorecard objectives, both on an individual and team level.
  • Manage various special projects developed through own initiative and/or as determined by Manager and deliver timely results with well supported recommendations.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' experience in handling and managing primary third party losses preferred.
  • Extensive understanding of Casualty insurance coverage interpretation, loss reserving, loss report analysis, litigation management and client relationship administration
  • Working knowledge of other functions within the insurance operation and an affinity for the legal and technical aspects of insurance claims, analytical skills and the ability to present complex matters in a concise and easy to understand way
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of industry issues through participation in trade and industry group activities and is able to effectively share gained knowledge
  • College degree required and advanced educational degrees or industry designations and/or certifications preferred
  • Adept at understanding, embracing and championing a shared strategy
  • Strategic thinking aimed at being solution oriented and results focused
  • Excellent written and oral communication with exceptional overall human interaction skills
  • Ability to exercise superb and decisive independent judgment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel) and other computer applications
  • Willingness to travel in comprehensive service of clients' and the Company's needs

The Company is open to considering candidates in Princeton, NJ and NYC. The salary range posted below applies to the Company's NYC location.
The base salary range anticipated for this position is $ 193,100 - $283,100 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
