Position: Job Coach
Reports To: Career Readiness Teacher/Job Developer/Vocational Coordinator
Job Goal: The Job Coach will be responsible for provision of direct prevocational and instruction/ technical assistance to students in the SASED Transition and the high school programs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Must be able to have a flexible work schedule
  • Must have a School Bus Permit to drive SASED Vans (SASED can provide support)
  • Prior work experience required

Duties and Responsibilities:*Other duties may be assigned
  1. Provide support and supervision during work-related programming, including but not limited to STEP or other work programs.
  2. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students and personnel.
  3. Maintain professional relationships with all businesses and act as liaison for SASED for all job sites.
  4. Model and direct appropriate work site behavior, dress, interactions with employer, other employees, and customers.
  5. Adapt work/homework under the direction of the teacher/supervisor for the purpose of providing a method to support and/or reinforce classroom and work objectives.
  6. Administer surveys, assessments, etc. under the direction of the teacher/supervisor for the purpose of assessing the student's progress toward work goals and/or recognizing the needs of individual students.
  7. Monitor, escort and assist individual students to provide a safe and positive learning and working environment.
  8. Assist with STEP data collection, input and management requirements.
  9. Evaluate, in collaboration with the Vocational Coordinator and/or Program Administrator, Educational Support Professionals on job sites working with students.
  10. Participates in student team meetings, as necessary.
  11. Direct student workers with daily functions and other work-related experiences.
  12. Provide and/or assist students in managing individualized personal care and/or hygiene needs. This may include but not limited to: toileting, diaper changes, feeding, brushing teeth, etc.
  13. Provide support and supervision during work related programming, including but not limited to community and school work environments, to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  14. Operate all equipment related to assistive technology, prone standers, walkers, related OT and PT devices and other items as required.
  15. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programs for students with varying functional levels.
  16. Maintain a work schedule that is reflective of employer needs.
  17. Under the direction of the vocational coordinator, maintain student behavior by utilizing behavior management strategies, including but not limited to escorting, and implementing token economy systems or point level systems with consideration of individual program emphasis and student needs.
  18. Demonstrate knowledge of students' needs, including not limited to: educational, medical, physical, sensory, speech/language, social/emotional, recreational, vocational, etc., as established by a multidisciplinary team and implemented as needed.
  19. Transport and assist with supervision for the safety of students while loading and unloading buses/vans for daily transport to and from job sites.
  20. Work closely with classroom teachers and parents to communicate timely information to ensure an efficient and supportive learning environment for students.
  21. Assist with an uninterrupted learning environment when substitutes are present.
