Job Requirements / Description

Our client's team is at the forefront of R&D and product development, seeking engineering talent with expertise in RF/microwave, RFIC design, acoustic filters, and PA product development. As part of the team, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering community across our domestic design centers, creating innovative products for global markets. You'll be paired with an experienced mentor and play a key role in designing multi-chip modules, including PA, LNA, acoustic filters, and switches.
Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of product development: definition, architecture, system budget, transistor-level circuit design, MCM design, layout supervision, lab debugging, and production support.
  • Drive front-end module design with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal module performance for high-volume, fast-paced cellular handset markets.
  • Interact with customers regarding Pin I/O, size, performance specs, and provide suggestions/solutions.
  • Own floor-planning, including module pinouts, package size, signal flows, package technology, and link budget.
  • Lead new technology/architecture suggestions with comprehensive analysis.
  • Enhance front-end module design methodologies for improved accuracy and efficiency.
  • Lead module design reviews and tapeout processes.
  • Support new package technology development.
  • Engage in EDA design tool development.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong understanding of RF/microwave fundamentals: impedance matching, passive RLC circuits, noise, linearity, circuit stability, and electromagnetic theory.
  • Solid knowledge of module building blocks: Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, RF Switches, Couplers, Filters, and Multi-chip Modules.
  • Relevant experience in multi-chip module (MCM) design, PA, LNA, RF switch design, or passive circuit design (integrated passive devices, couplers, BAW/SAW filters, and balun).
  • Proficiency in circuit simulation tools: Agilent ADS, 2.5/3D EM tools (ADS Momentum/EMX, HFSS), and Cadence, with the ability to translate between models, simulations, physical implementation, and measured performance.
  • Demonstrated lab skills: data collection/analysis, lab debugging/tuning, and product troubleshooting.
  • Self-starter and team player with a commitment to take products from concept to volume production.
  • Strong communication and logical reasoning skills, capable of breaking down complex problems, setting priorities, reporting progress, and executing schedules.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering + 6 years of experience or Ph.D. + 3 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good understanding of RF systems and familiarity with wireless standards, including 3GPP cellular (2/3/4/5G/LTE), WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth.
  • Solid understanding of device and process technologies.
  • Experience in system architecture, circuit topology, and MCM floorplanning.
  • Experience in FEM product development and customer interaction.
  • Good understanding of acoustic filters such as SAW and BAW filters.
  • Experience in co-simulation of multiple technologies: digital, analog, and RF circuits.
  • Familiarity with lab instruments: Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers, and Load-pull Tuners.

Starting base pay will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, business needs, market demands, job responsibilities, and work location. The client offers varying base pay ranges for different U.S. locations. Benefits include healthcare options (with a premium-free medical plan), a 401(k) plan with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, and paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness days, and parental leave). Employees can also participate in an incentive plan, and some roles qualify for additional awards like recognition and stock, all based on individual and/or company performance.
