**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** Pediatrics
**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks
**Shift:** 12-Hour Night Shifts, 3 shifts per week, including weekends and holidays
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours per week
**Experience:** 1 year of experience required
**License:** Current RN License
**Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association
**Must-Have:** Pediatric RN patient care experience
**Job Description:**
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
- Assists physicians in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary.
- Administers medication as prescribed, initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivers patient care competently.
- Interacts with the family and patient in sharing the care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge.
- Informs patients and families of hospital procedures.
- Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegates tasks to support staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Float to all acute care units, including the Pediatric Medical Unit, Pediatric Surgical Unit, Pediatric Medical Specialty, and occasionally the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit.
**Skills:**
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
- Basic computer skills
**Education:**
- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from a Board Approved Program
