WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As Senior Designer - Billabong, you will play a pivotal role in creating the collection each season for our action sports apparel line. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, bringing your expertise in design, trend analysis, and technical knowledge to create industry-leading products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in action sports apparel, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for staying ahead of design trends.
- Carry out the creative vision and design direction set by the design director each season.
- Ensure designs from concept to final production for action sports apparel, ensuring alignment with brand aesthetics, market trends, and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with the product development and merchant to understand market needs and consumer preferences.
- Conduct trend research, staying informed about emerging design, technology, and performance trends within the action sports industry.
- Create detailed design briefs, sketches, and tech packs to communicate design concepts to internal teams and external vendors.
- Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture within the team.
- Oversee sample development and prototype reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure product excellence.
- Partner with production teams to address any design-related challenges during the manufacturing process.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in action sports apparel design, with a focus on technical performance/ outdoor or denim.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects, with an emphasis on action sports apparel.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and knowledge of 3D design tools is a plus.
- In-depth understanding of materials, construction techniques, and manufacturing processes relevant to action sports apparel.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and ideas effectively.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a design team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- This position requires some hours at our HQ in Costa Mesa, CA; however, some duties can be performed remotely.

Liberated Brands is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role in Costa Mesa, CA is $85,000 - $100,000. This position is Hybrid and, as such, compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by several factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skill set, certifications, and specific work location.
