Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Senior Reimbursement Analyst for the Finance - System Controllers department. This position will be primarily a work from home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite as needed . You may be based outside of the greater Chicagoland area.
The Senior Reimbursement Analyst provides net revenue and third-party reimbursement support and analysis to Finance leadership. The senior will provide analysis, monitoring and reporting of net revenues; the annual cost reports; surveys; and other reimbursement related needs. The analyst can address the highly complex, regulated and evolving environment of government & commercial reimbursement, its valuation for revenue and receivables and a basic understanding of compliance to federal and state requirements, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The analyst may provide support for preparation of community benefit and tax reporting requirements including various annual surveys. They will assist in the maintenance of revenue cycle analytic software tool (RCA) used for net revenue purposes as well as maintain cost reporting software. They will also work with the Director/Manager in completion of strategic reimbursement financial plans, short and long term.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide analysis of net revenue through the use of Revenue Cycle Analytics (RCA), in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and an understanding of the revenue cycle process and regulatory reporting.
- Provide analysis and support in the use of net revenue from third parties, such as Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross (PSR, SPCL, and experience reports). Basic understanding of nuances to reimbursements and regulations for various payers including governmental agencies.
- Assist with implementation of Revenue Cycle Analytics and other RCA type reporting needs.
- Assist with the analysis of net patient service revenue for budgeting/forecasting purposes, modeling impacts from changes in reimbursement and regulations.
- Assist with net patient service revenue reporting for purposes of annual audit, community benefit, quarterly/annual survey requirements as outlined by regulations and prescriptive instructions from various agencies.
- Assist in the preparation of Medicare, Medicaid, BX, Champus Cost reports in compliance with federal register, contracts and reimbursement agreements.
- Provide detailed analysis around organ acquisition, bad debts, GME/IME and other critical Medicare reimbursements.
- Collaborates with Leadership in the preparation of cost reports.
- Assist in the maintenance of cost reporting software.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other mathematic based degrees.
- Minimum 5 years experience in progressively responsible analytical position or approximately 2 years public accounting experience.
- Advanced computer skills required including knowledge and proficiency with spreadsheet and database programs.
- Ability to learn new software and processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Logical, clear thinking, and independence.
- Knowledgeable on revenue cycle processes, large data elements and complexity.
- Must be able to articulate issues in a precise, substantive manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA.
- Crowe Certified Net Revenue Analyst.
- Experience with Kodiak (previously known as CROWE) Revenue Cycle Analytics (“RCA”) tool.
- Knowledge of cost reporting software.
