Job Title: Finance Specialist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Job Purpose
To provide financial services in support of the YWCA mission and programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist CFO with accounting responsibilities, cash management, and reporting requirements to a variety of stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of accounts receivable.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data is accurate and complete.
- Prepares monthly journal entries and correction of entries.
- Preparation of account reconciliation and accruals.
- Oversee the Accounts Receivable process to include maintaining expenses by program/funder
- Participates in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Help maintain accurate financial records and ensure adherence to accounting principles and best practices.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Commitment to the YWCA mission of Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women.
- Other related duties as required and/or assigned.
- Associate's degree in accounting or related field, preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, nonprofit accounting preferred.
- Experience with technical accounting, including journal entries and accrual accounting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team and follow-through on projects.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Forty (40) hour workweek
- Employee works in an office environment and is protected from weather conditions and contaminants.
- Standing or sitting for long periods, bending, stooping and occasional lifting.
- Repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
- Ability to communicate effectively, in person and in writing, with guests, staff, donors, vendors, and volunteers.
