Schedule:
Standard operating hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday-Friday. Specific work hours will be established through discussions with your supervisor.
Hourly Wage:
$15.40 /hr. to start - $16.40 /hr. after 90 Days

Job Summary:
At LIFE-NWPA, our Driver/PCA play a crucial role in the care of our participants as they provide transportation to and from their destinations. Driver/PCAs must want to make a difference in seniors' lives by working with the interdisciplinary care team to implement and carry out services and activities to proactively meet the needs of our participants.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Drives Participants to and from scheduled doctor's appointments and to the LIFE Center.
  • May run errands for the facility, including the hardware store, grocery store, pharmacy, and banks.
  • Effectively communicates with Participants, families, staff, and other agencies and departments.
  • Drives a specially equipped van to deliver physically limited persons to varied destinations. Assures that wheelchair lifts and tie-down equipment are properly operated and that Participants are delivered to appointments promptly.
  • Follows established schedules, adjusts schedules to meet unanticipated changes, and determines the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes.
  • Assists passengers on and off the van safely and courteously. Deals with medical equipment and other emergencies that may arise.
  • May be called upon to support the Participants as a Personal Care Aide (In-Home or In-Center), including showering, bathing, toileting, etc. as needed.
  • Inspects van and maintains it in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Reports on the need for vehicle maintenance.
  • Attends staff and training meetings.
  • Communicates any change in Participant condition to team members.
  • Completes documentation as required.
  • Participate in on-going Quality Initiative training as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Requires valid State driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must work effectively in a team environment and operate handicap-accessible vehicles.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully and patiently with personnel, patients, visitors, and the public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of vehicle maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to minimize supplies waste, equipment misuse, etc.
  • Ability to organize work and follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Must have the cognitive ability to process and perform tasks for Participant safety.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and can follow written and/or oral directions.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED plus one year of experience working with the frail/elderly population.
  • Attainment of Q-Straint Academy Certification (Training Provided).
  • One year of experience working with the frail and elderly population or willing to complete Company paid training to meet this requirement.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (Training Provided)
Requirements:
  • Requires valid State driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of background check, physical, drug screening, TB Screening
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. May have to lift/push up to 25 pounds with proper equipment. Is subject to lifting, carrying, and supporting Participants.
  • Must be constantly alert for Participant's safety.

Employment Requirements: Successful completion of Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, PA DHS Child Abuse Clearance, Office of Inspector General check, and FBI Fingerprinting for Child Protective Services Law (at employer's expense). Successful completion of post-offer employment drug screening and physical (at employer's expense). CPR and First Aid Certification, or willing to obtain at employer's expense. Individuals must have one year of prior experience caring for the frail elderly or willing to complete Company paid training to meet this requirement.
This position has full access to Participant, program, and staff records and reports, requiring discretion to protect individuals and the program.
