Job Overview: Nest Communities is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our team. The Accountant will support the staff with day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting and record-keeping. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in property management accounting and to grow within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with maintaining accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely manner.
  • Help with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Support tax preparation and audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting principles.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Communicate with vendors and tenants to resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to accounting as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or in progress).
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred,
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP knowledge preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel and other Google/MS Office tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience in property management accounting or familiarity with utility billing processes.
  • AppFolio CRM preferred but not required
  • Eagerness to learn and grow professionally in the accounting field.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
