JOB TITLE: Senior Civil Engineer
LOCATION: Illinois, Ohio

SUMMARY
The Senior Civil Engineer will partner with project stakeholders to plan, design, and permit various civil engineering and land development projects in the Chicago Metro area. The Senior Civil Design Engineer will develop projects from the conceptual phase through design completion in accordance with approved project drawings and specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review client-provided project descriptions to assess scope and design
  • Maintain a high level of quality and responsiveness to client requirements
  • Perform project site visits to collect field data that will assist in design development
  • Develop civil design packages including site geometrics, profiles/grading, stormwater management calculations, utility coordination, permitting, plan & specifications preparation, and other documents required for construction
  • Provide engineering support during and post-construction to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals which include scope, schedules, and budgets
  • Coordinate and assist other company departments (Transportation, Survey, etc.)
  • Manage and schedule execution of projects
  • Monitor projects' productivity, quality, and progress
  • Monitor and resolve technical issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Ensure that all projects meet safety standards in accordance with OSHA, state regulations, and other industry best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required.

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant post-education experience providing deliverables related to the planning, design, and construction of civil infrastructure with at least 2 years of site development design. Design-build and/or Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Illinois, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain by comity/reciprocity
  • Knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures including:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or GIS tools
    • Coordination of conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements
    • Complex projects in dense urban environments, construction permit development, easements, and ROW coordination
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills

Other valued qualifications include:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision and as part of a larger design team
  • Experience with managing small teams or projects
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS, HEC-HMS, or HEC-RAS

Base Pay Range: $75K – $115K
