The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a passionate and accomplished team, you will support the development of the Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL/Flatsat) testbed for the In-Space Systems Business Unit. You will support the development team that builds an integrated vehicle level emulator of the Blue Ring Spacecraft. You will elicit requirements from stakeholders and develop the testbed to support a range of development and operations activities.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and attention towards safe and reliable spaceflight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Decomposition of test goals/objectives to design, develop, and deliver spacecraft avionics testbeds to satisfy system test plans and requirements. You will be directly responsible for:
  • Lab architecture (rack designs, lab layout, and facility integration)
  • Selection, procurement, and, if needed, design/modification of signal emulation and data acquisition hardware.
  • Spacecraft component/electronics integration solutions (e.g. component mounting/grounding, harness design)
  • Developing and maintaining software for testbed simulation environments.
  • Authoring and execution of testbed qualification plans and procedures.
  • Management of testbed codebase in version control systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical degree.
  • 5 + years industry experience with avionics systems testing experience planning, executing, and reporting electronics testing.
  • Experience producing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power meters, data acquisition cards, etc.)
  • Experience successfully developing test solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in managing codebases in version control systems.
  • Strong development skills in C / C++ and Python.
  • Working knowledge of real-time operating systems and real-time embedded control systems (including APIs, interfaces, and device drivers).
  • Working knowledge of communications protocols such as UDP/TCP, I2C, UART, Spacewire, etc.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in rapid deployment of test environments.
  • Experience developing a HIL/Flatsat environment for a spacecraft program.
  • Experience with writing automated test scripts in Python or other scripting languages.
  • Experience developing 3D mechanical CAD drawings.
  • Experience with PCB schematic and layout.
  • Experience with 2D and/or 3D harness design.

Compensation Range for WA applicants is $120,060.00-$168,084.00. Other site ranges may differ.
