Job Description:
The Recovery Coach Apprentice position is a full-time employment opportunity for individuals who wish to earn the Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) credential through MCBAP and who do not yet hold this certification. This position is a paid work-while-you-learn opportunity which requires focused preparation and demonstration of Recovery Coach competencies in alcohol/drug addiction related fields, lived personal experience with addiction and recovery, specialized education/training, mentored work experience providing substance use disorder services, and a passing score on the required IC&RC exam.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Have maintained at least 2 years of continuous/successful recovery from drug and/or alcohol dependence
  • Be willing to publicly self-identify as being in recovery from substance use
  • Be willing to to share their experiences of addiction and recovery as an inspiration to others
  • Have the ability to commit to the full 1-year duration of the RTI apprenticeship program
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED required
Essential Duties:
  • Attend and successfully complete all specialized education hours required of the Recovery Training Institute (RTI) apprenticeship program
  • Build upon professional competencies through mentorship in areas such as building trust and rapport with clients, practicing empathy, communicating effectively, providing information and resources
  • Offer emotional, informational, and instrumental support to clients as they enter and progress through treatment and recovery
  • Assist in post-treatment maintenance of recovery by directing clients to appropriate support systems and resources (housing, food, clothing, etc.)
  • Conduct intakes, assessments, creating. individualized recovery. plans with each client, and regularly assessing the client's progress
  • Help client build a recovery network by helping them build social connections and relationships through support groups and recovery events
  • Minimize the obstacles to recovery by identifying challenges to and opportunities for long-term recovery
  • Demonstrate standards of professionalism and abiding by policies of human services settings, such as ethics, cultural competence, crisis intervention, client confidentiality, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies

Must have reliable transportation as work involves the ability to travel throughout the metropolitan area.
Pay Range: $18 per hour
