Safety Supervisor

Onsite - Direct Hire

Salary: $80-85k

**must be willing to travel in a 2 hour radius


In coordination with the Human Resources/Safety Manager, the Safety Supervisor is responsible for the prevention of accidents, incidents and events that harm people, property or the environment. This position studies products, systems, operations and activities to identify hazards, evaluates the hazards to identify what risks might occur and the severity of results, risks and costs. The Safety Supervisor also identifies what controls are appropriate and their costs and effectiveness.



· Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. As noted below, other duties may be assigned.

· Conducts Project Hazard Analysis with the help of the Operations Managers and Field Supervisors, prior to the project start date. The PHA will act as the Safety Blueprint for the project and will be re-visited throughout the project to ensure that it remains salient.

· Conducts job site safety inspections. Issues a report that will go to the Operations Manager and the Human Resources/Safety Manager.

· Maintains training record for employee equipment training, schedules classes for equipment training, administers classes for all equipment (such as fork lifts, loaders, backhoes, skid-steer loaders, etc.) and either follows up with field test or receives field test information from foreman and then records the fact that the employee is duly certified to operate a particular piece of equipment.

· Develops, implements, and evaluates, with guidance from the Human Resources/Safety Manager and Chief Executive Officer, programs and procedures to ensure safety.

Monitors and controls company's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations.

· Develops and implements a program and system to track and evaluate worker injuries.

· Investigates accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident reports.

· Evaluates human activities working with equipment to identify hazards.

· Tours job sites to inspect, identify and correct potential hazards; and to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

· Conducts or coordinates safety and first aid training to educate workers about safety policies, laws, and practices.

· Oversight and Coordination of Incentive Program

· Maintenance of Safety Supplies

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Safety Certification Preferred.


Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Accounting software; Human Resource systems and Database software.


Certificates and Licenses:

Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
