Client Service Consultant, Employee Benefits

Responsibilities:
- Identify and present opportunities to expand client accounts, with or without Senior Consultant support.
- Foster positive relationships and clear communication with coworkers, clients, insurance carriers, and vendors; handle escalated issues.
- Share expertise, delegate tasks, and provide guidance to team members.
- Create and manage project timelines, identifying tasks, durations, and responsible team members.
- Monitor monthly financials and budgets; prepare and deliver client reports.
- Request, file, and review health and welfare plan renewals with Senior Consultants.
- Draft and edit complex RFPs, distribute to insurance carriers, negotiate as needed, and analyze proposals for Senior Consultant review.
- Prepare and deliver tailored client presentations and communications.
- Implement new health and welfare benefit plans.
- Own problem resolution, conducting research and problem-solving as needed.
- Respond promptly, accurately, and courteously to coworkers, clients, and insurance carriers.
- Handle sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Conduct client site visits for face-to-face meetings, as required.
- Assist clients with compliance to HIPAA, ERISA, PPACA, and other benefit-related regulations.
- Monitor Helpline performance, provide updates, and assist with training sessions.
- Undertake special projects and other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to travel to client’s location in coordination with sales/service team members is a must.
- Ability and willingness to consistently participate in internal and external educational opportunities to enhance knowledge of current insurance topics or relevant system improvements.
- Ability and willingness to pursue a technical designation and/or continuing education, as appropriate.
- Must be knowledgeable of and comply with HMA’s Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma is required, and a college degree is preferred. Professional designations such as CEBS or CLU are helpful. Human Resource certifications are also preferred, such as PHR or SPHR. Active state Life & Health insurance license, or ability to obtain within three months of hire, is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience, preferably in a life/health, employee benefits or provider organization, is required.
