Compensation
The compensation target range for this role is:
$90,300 - $95,000
Job Summary
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for technical work with respect to automation projects and service provided to the Operations team. The role of Controls Engineer comes with a variety of different responsibilities and options to pursue many career paths.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and manage facility controls team
- Lead controls team in new and existing equipment projects
- Manage electrical contractors to maintain facility electrical systems
- Guide installation of equipment and balance circuits for proper power distribution
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment involving mechanical and electrical components
- Design control panels to UL standards.
- Possess VFD programming and troubleshooting skills
- Manage and lead controls team during after hour call outs to repair machinery (all hours)
- Work closely with mechanical engineering team modify production machinery
- Ability to accurately calculate load and breaker sizing for machinery
- Program automation controllers utilizing IEC 61131-3 programming languages
- Program and troubleshoot Emerson (GE), Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC's and HMI's
- Draw basic and complex electrical circuit diagrams
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for electrical failures
- Design and implement PROFINET, safety, and general network systems.
- Knowledge of Keyence and Banner safety controllers is a plus.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Associated Degree in an electrical automation program is required
- Bachelor's Degree in related field is preferred
- 5 years of experience in related field is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a strong ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team
- Knowledgeable in the use of a variety of electrical test instrumentation
- Familiar with the use of power tools, forklifts, and hoists
- Ability to read, markup, and edit electrical schematic drawings
- Ability to respond and coordinate with maintenance and operations during plant breakdowns
- Proficient in motor control theory
- Knowledge of electrical motor vibration analysis
- Proficient in P&ID design, and drawing
- Experience with injection molding and extruding machinery a plus
- Familiar with SolidWorks Electrical a plus
