Position Summary
Performs a variety of manufacturing assignments related to medical device extrusion and packaging in the extrusion department. Position is responsible for extrusion quality, production and on time delivery to clean room and R&D departments. Be able to execute (under engineering supervision) validations/qualifications of processes and machinery.
Principal Responsibilities
• Provides hands on processing support to all production, QA and engineering functions related to the extrusion department.
• Initiates, documents, and completes extrusion traceability records.
• Applies appropriate quality procedures and product documentation to production builds and monitors each for quality conformance.
• Performs quality checks and related production duties with minimal supervision.
• Provides back up for supervisor/Value Stream Leader for daily schedule development and resin inventory management when they are absent
• Responsible for SAP confirmations.
• Manage tooling and Equipment for extrusion department. Order tooling and, obtain quotes for new tooling fixtures.
• Take lead in continuous improvement projects.
• Lead structured problem solving activities in response to defects, complaints, returns, and other CI activity
• Provides back up for Supervisor/Value Stream Leader for Value Stream.
• Provides mentorship and training to more junior technicians
• Provides support and executes Process Development Studies in order to identify ideal processing parameters
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert for extrusion
• Work with minimal supervision and act independently.
• Has a strong understanding of TFX documentation system as it applies to manufacturing.
• Perform adjustments to extruders in order to ensure dimensional conformance to product documentation with minimal supervision.
• Is aware of general equipment hazards and follows and utilizes all applicable safety standards.
• Aware of the first aid supplies location.
• Aware of all emergency procedures.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Keeps work area clean.
• Experience with relevant preventative maintenance activities
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution, preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in machine set up, troubleshooting, and operation required.
• A minimum of 3 years in extrusion machine required, 5 years in extrusion machine experience, preffered.
• Multi-lumen extrusion, vacuum sizing, and contact sizing experience, preferred.
• Catheter related Medical Device Manufacturing experience, preferred.
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
• Prior training and experience in GMP/GDP
• Ability to use Microsoft Office software is required: including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Powerpoint, SolidWorks Preferred
• This position requires the employee to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
• Experience with laser mic, tool scope, and other metrology equipment
• Preferred background/training in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools
