**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** Med/Surg - Cardio/Pulmonary
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** Nights; 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Rapid Response 3x12 Hr
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
**License:** Illinois State RN License in good standing
**Certifications:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
**Must-Have:**
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Proficiency in patient monitoring
- Strong documentation skills
**Job Description:**
- Assume responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame, providing care using the nursing process, current trends, technology, and resources.
- Perform all duties required by the unit, specific to the scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to the area of practice.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care to ensure integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
- Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs.
- Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures, modifying as needed through continuous evaluation.
- Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicate directly and privately with others to resolve issues, offering constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers.
- Identify individual learning needs and take initiative to find appropriate solutions.
- Manage care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
- Collaboratively identify patient goals of care, design and maintain care plans with patient and family.
- Implement interventions as needed, including medication administration and evaluation of effects.
- Prepare patients for procedures, manage pain, perform IV venipuncture, administer blood, and monitor labs.
- Discharge patients and provide instructions for safe transition from hospital.
- Ensure team huddles occur regularly.
- Evaluate patient conditions and delegate effectively with appropriate follow-up.
- Answer call lights and ensure basic care is administered per standards of care, including turning and toileting.
- Engage in conflict management and maintain professional communication with all team members.
