We are looking for a Data Scientist Manager to join our team, specifically hiring for the Real-Time Intelligence team. As part of Azure, our mission is to empower every person in the world to do more with data, particularly with real-time, streaming, and high-granularity data. We aim to bring simplicity to this space and uncover the unknown unknowns on large amounts of high granularity data, enabling everyone in the organization to be ready for the era of AI.

We work on novel technologies including analytics on GPUs, container technologies, graph databases, infrastructure and models for LLMs, and data-science, machine learning for systems, and many other areas. The Data Scientist Manager in the team focuses on LLM-based research as well as ML-for-Systems work, designed to create innovative experiences in the context of all products in the team, as well as optimize and improve the efficiency of how we operate our systems. Managers in the team guide designing a broad research agenda and work with individual researchers in pursuing world-class novel research and successfully transferring it to product.

As a Data Scientist Manager, you have an opportunity to work on the latest technology of LLMs and Data Science and apply them to some of the largest problems in industry, including practical applications of ML on workload insight and optimization, and applying innovative algorithms for solving placement and load balancing problems at scale. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

1. Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years of data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
2. OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years of data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
3. OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years of data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
4. OR equivalent experience.
5. 5+ years of people-management experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

1. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

4. OR equivalent experience.
5. 7+ years of people-management experience.

Data Science M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
