The Senior IT Documentation Specialist is part of the Product Communication and Training team. They are responsible for the oversight and delivery of all customer-facing product documentation for a particular product line. In this role, the Senior specialist serves as a liaison between the overall product team and the team of technical communicators assigned to the product. They act as a single voice for the technical communications group, ensuring that product documentation impact is factored into every release or feature enhancement, and establishing expectations for delivery of the documentation set and what it includes. In addition, they ensure that all documentation deliverables adhere to corporate and departmental guidelines, are continuously improved, and are delivered on-time and error free.

- Develop, write, and maintain technical product documentation, along with supporting materials relating to software packages.
- Create and maintain documentation plans for use in communicating with the overall product team, regarding which documents will be delivered for the release.
- Create and maintain project plans to ensure that all documents are delivered by the established completion dates.
- Act as a representative at project meetings and point of contact for technical communications product level issues.
- Participate in all feature reviews and determine impact to the product documentation.
- Act as a resource and assign writers to feature teams as appropriate.
- Attend meetings regarding new feature development and provide input into the user interface design.
- Collaborate with Product Communication and Training team as well as product teams to develop, write, and maintain technical product documentation standards, suggesting documentation and process improvements as they are identified.
- Provide guidance and apply Agile (SAFe, Scrum) practices to streamline writing delivery.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for the product.
- Participate in peer review process to ensure quality is at the forefront of everything we create.
- Provides mentoring for new technical communication hires.
- Maintain awareness and basic understanding of applicable industry and business standards and regulations.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communication or equivalent.
Required Work Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience in technical writing or a related field.
- 5+ years hands-on experience developing formalized business and software documentation through traditional and Agile development lifecycles including SAFe and/or Scrum.
- 3+ years demonstrating excellent skills with MadCap Flare or similar content authoring tool.
- 3+ years health care industry experience.
- 2+ years of project leadership or equivalent
Preferred Work Experience:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including a strong attention to detail.
- Experience creating online help documentation.
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with the full Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with documenting large enterprise applications.
- Must have basic familiarity with Web Technologies
- Experience with Rally, JIRA, or related project management tool.
- Excellent proficiency in problem-solving and troubleshooting issues.
- Excellent organizational, time management, customer service, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience coaching other team members.
