The Specialist collaborates with the larger Campus Life team and numerous student employees, plans, implements, and assesses campus wide programming, and advises student organizations in planning, implementing, and assessing programs.The Campus Life Specialist should be a high energy, positive role model who is committed to student affairs, leadership education and the specific needs of our key populations (e.g. undergraduate, graduate, residential, commuters & transfer students). The position involves high student contact, and evening and weekend hours are frequent.Key Responsibilities Include:Develop, implement, and administer co-curricular programs, plans, policies, and services such as student leadership programming, commuter programs, late night and weekend activities, and College traditionsAssist Campus Life team in planning, implementing, and managing larger campus events including, but not limited to, New Student Orientation, First-Year Experience, and peer leader/mentoring programming. Assists with all Commencement eventsProvide advice and assistance to student groups in such areas as organizational analysis, team building, strategic planning, leadership, time management, and problem resolutionReview student club/org requests and authorize use campus space; determine security, health and safety, insurance, and permit requirements for facilities usage; submit food requests and necessary requisitionsCoordinate, and monitor aspects of co-curricular student training programs; evaluate content, format, and objectives; deliver group and individual instructional training, as appropriateDesign, develop, and oversee implementation of relevant marketing strategies and initiatives directed at students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and/or the general public; edit and coordinate production and distribution of a range of promotional publications, including social media and semesterly activities calendarAssist in the planning of student personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluate performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performanceSubmit room reservation requests/facilities work orders for Campus Life events and student clubs/organizationsProvide support to campus users in regard to Mercy's student engagement platformAssist with club budget oversight and managementSupport Associate Director in all aspects of the management of Campus LifeOther duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degreeProfessional experience within a college or university setting in the areas of student affairs or student activitiesMust demonstrate skills in advising a diverse group of studentsPossess the ability to work collaboratively and have knowledge of student development theory practicesWillingness to travel between campuses for events and some evening or weekend work may be needed based on Campus Life eventsAbout MercyMercy University is a dynamic, independent, coeducational New York City areauniversity that offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs in six schools: Business, Education, Health and Natural Sciences, Liberal Arts, Nursing, and Social and Behavioral Sciences.Mercy is the region's largest private, nonprofit, Minority-Serving Institution , proud to serve a student body that is highly diverse.
