The Site Reliability/DevOps Engineer is an impactful role within the Developer Infrastructure / Tooling team, under BNY’s Engineering Enablement organization. As a member of the team this role will be committed to creating solutions and platforms that enhance developer relations and tools, along with their interactions within the BNY application development ecosystem. This role will bring extensive knowledge and experience in SCM, CI/CD, SRE, REST APIs, programming languages, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms to the BNY Engineering Enablement organization. The ideal candidate will not only be able to design and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure, but also mentor junior DevOps engineers, collaborate with development teams, monitor and optimize system performance, stay abreast of emerging technologies, foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning, ensure security best practices, and collaborate with operation on incident response. 

This role is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania or Lake Mary, Florida – ONSITE/HYBRID. 

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:  

  • Design and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure to support DevOps CI/CD Platform 
  • Mentor junior DevOps engineers in implementing best practices and automating processes. 
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps methodologies into their workflows. 
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and minimizing downtime. 
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team. 
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the DevOps team. 
  • Ensure security best practices are implemented throughout the infrastructure and deployment pipelines. 
  • Collaborate with operation on incident response and lead post-mortem analysis to prevent future occurrences. 

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:  

  • Expertise in managing large scale implementations of Source Code Management solutions (SCM). We are a GitLab shop but similar experience / perspective works. 
  • Extensive experience in implementing and managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment  pipelines using tools like GitLab  CI, Jenkins, and CircleCI. 
  • Expertise in developing and integrating REST APIs  for seamless communication between different software components. 
  • Solid programing abilities in a relevant language such as Java, Python, Ruby or GoLang.  
  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure and configuration management using tools such as Terraform  or Ansible.  
  • Skilled in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)  practices to ensure scalable, highly reliable, and resilient software systems. 
  • Proficient in database management with PostgreSQL
  • Extensive experience with containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with various cloud platforms and services , ensuring efficient and scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree is preferred. 
  • 8-10 years of experience in a systems SCM environment, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
