Position Description
Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide efficient and effective dispatch support for the field operations function. Specifically, this role dispatches equipment, materials, and craft personnel to the proper jobs and locations in accordance with the applicable provisions of the appropriate labor agreements and job schedules.

Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
Company / Entity
  1. Actively supports field operation goals and objectives through completing technical/administrative dispatch tasks on time and accurately, providing ongoing support, and proactively resolving challenges and issues. Participates in departmental meetings to stay abreast of department/business unit issues especially as they pertain to dispatch, construction practices and procedures, field operations, and other relevant topics.
  2. Collaborates across departments and ensures a focus on consistency in technical practices and administrative procedures for dispatch. Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards that protect the company's interests.
  3. Promotes and protects Teichert Pipelines values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others. Maintains a "team" spirit within the business unit and on project teams. Works and cooperates with other disciplines within business unit to ensure maximum and best use of resources.
  4. Promotes and protects the community perception of Teichert.
Technical / Specialty Area
  1. Supplies field operations with necessary support required for successful completion of construction projects through timely communication and coordination with Foremen, Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Operations Manager, and by effectively dispatching and scheduling various equipment, materials, and/or craft personnel to the proper job and location.
  2. Ensures maximum and efficient use of resources (people, materials and equipment): coordinates construction resources by assessing capability, location, and availability of resources; tracks and eliminates rental equipment once usage is complete; efficiently locates, schedules, and moves equipment; ensures adherence to curfews laws; and maintains regular contact with truck drivers, foremen, and superintendents to maximize coordination efforts.
  3. Contributes to the smooth operation of Teichert Pipelines and Teichert Energy & Utilities through effective implementation of day-to-day activities such as obtaining required permits for equipment transport, ordering accurate quantities of materials, ordering trucking, updating material schedules, ordering and tracking rental equipment, updating timecards, preparing invoices for rented equipment and materials, monitoring two-way radio at all times, contacting craft employees for job assignments, new locations, layoffs, etc.
  4. Assists with interpretation of safety programs in order to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, meet corporate standards and to aspire to achieve a zero injury culture; documents all violations, notifies appropriate management, and recommends corrective actions.
  5. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal, cross-functional departments and external contacts. Communicates company and project policies, procedures, and standards. Gathers feedback and continuously makes improvements to work processes, practices, and equipment.
  6. Plays a role in hiring craft personnel and complies with company hiring policies. Manages apprenticeship program. Complies with collective bargaining agreements, EEO policies, and company programs such as the 16-Step Program in order to maintain Affirmative Action posture.
  7. Completes internal administrative organization and documentation, including logs, files, records and reports pertaining to the Dispatch function, timecards and invoices. Assists in keeping written Dispatch Program manuals and any other dispatch related materials available and up-to-date.

Role Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
  • High School diploma or GED

Position Description Cont.
Experience & Industry Expertise:
  • Minimum of two years experience in/knowledge of construction equipment, trucking, materials and their uses required or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current on all company required safety training
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest
  • Thorough knowledge of construction equipment, trucking, materials, and their uses
  • Knowledge of geographic area and ability to effectively communicate directions
  • Knowledge of permitting and curfew laws
  • Good working knowledge of computers

Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Physical: Required to sit for long periods of time while at a computer and/or on the telephone. May visit job sites which require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending or stooping. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Required to work long hours during peak season. Must be available at all times.
  • Work Environment: Regular interruptions, heavy phone and two-way radio usage. High pressure situations or issues with scheduling resources. Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time.

BASE SALARY RANGE:
$58,667 - $82,133
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
