If you share our determination to drive the transition to a low-carbon future, then this could be the job for you. We are currently seeking a Lead Cost Estimator reporting directly to the Study Manager, to join our team based in Houston, Texas.
About the Job
  • Develops AACE Class V/IV/III CAPEX and OPEX estimates for the energy and Chemicals industry.
  • Performs in a Lead Estimator capacity developing estimates of cost, quantities, and scope for early project/ technology development phases for locations worldwide.
  • Responsible for developing estimating scope - paying particular attention to capturing all the differences between competing concepts - and for assuring estimates, including checking and benchmarking.
  • Responsible for developing the estimating scope, including bulk material quantities, infrastructure, degree of modularization, yard location and manhours, transport and installation, site hours, commissioning, indirect, client costs and insurance, office hours.
  • Interaction with project team members from all design disciplines in different locations, including project management, client reps, and other 3rd party consultants.
  • Write estimate plans, review the scope of work, develop & assemble estimate data, review estimates (discipline, management, client), and write estimate basis document with qualifications & assumptions.
  • Helping to create/maintain the benchmarking database for new types of projects.
  • Participate in estimate reviews and presentations with management, Study Manager, Clients, and project team members.
Additional discipline accountabilities:
  • Provides leadership and expertise in the domain.
  • Develops estimate methodologies and tools relevant to the business segment.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the data bank.
  • Interfaces between T.EN. Houston and Genesis global cost estimation teams
Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related fields, or Master's would be preferred.
  • 7 plus years of experience with Refining, Oil & Gas, and Petrochemical Estimating core processes and procedures.
  • Experience in upstream oil & gas working closely with fabrication yards and transportation & installation companies for cost estimates
  • Good understanding of the principles of estimating, management, and project reporting.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in PreFEED/FEED/EPC estimating practices and methods.
  • Good Understanding of development engineering, project management and construction management concepts.
  • Knowledge of the estimating process to develop conceptual estimates of material quantities, manhours, bottom-up OPEX including site and office manning, logistics and utilities, infrastructure scope, bottom-up CAPEX, DEVEX, abandonment costs, client costs for worldwide locations.
  • Awareness of construction methods and installation methods to develop detailed Procurement & Construction costs.
  • Ability to estimate site and office manning requirements, TAR costs, IMR costs, logistics and flights costs, chemical and consumable use, utility loads and costs, indirect OPEX costs including IT, rent, insurance.
  • Software skills with MS office package, especially with Excel spreadsheets and data management.
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic for Excel macro programming - preferred.
  • Understanding and in-depth knowledge of Aspen Capital Cost Estimator is a plus
