This position is within the Department of Corrections.DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Parole Agent 1 in a State Correctional Institution, you will learn how to counsel inmates in correctional institutions to prepare them for parole hearings that will lead to their release and re-entry into the community. You can expect to prepare and initiate pre-parole investigations, review inmate cases for domestic violence history, complete sex offender registration when necessary, and aid in other parole-related processes. In this position, you conduct orientation for newly committed offenders to inform them of pre-parole services. You also conduct parole education classes to educate inmates about the parole process. Additionally, you will act as a point of contact for inmates, their families, government agencies, and the public.Successful completion of the 12-month training/probationary period will result in a promotion to Parole Agent 2 with an increase in salary!Interested in learning more? REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of paraprofessional experience which includes two years of paraprofessional social services, human services, corrections, or law enforcement experience; or Two years of paraprofessional social services, human services, corrections, or law enforcement experience, and an associate's degree; or A bachelor's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, legal studies, political science, behavioral science, or a related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.Special Requirements: This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver's license or equivalent. All employees must obtain CLEAN certification within two months of employment and maintain this certification for the duration of employment in this job.
