The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the staff of Financial Accountants. The Accounting Manager oversees the work of the Financial Accountants as well as ensures the completion of departmental goals by completing necessary projects, ensuring successful onboarding of new third-party clients, and hiring/training Financial Accountants.
The Accounting Manager also serves as the main point of contact for third-party clients and as the intermediary between the operations and accounting departments. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for weekly payable processing and initiating all necessary bank wires/ACHs.

Responsibilities:
- Manage staff of Financial Accountants
- Monitor and ensure monthly financial closing deadlines are met
- Review financial package prepared by Financial Accountants
- Serve as the main point of contact for all third-party clients
- Work closely with the Operations team on projects and known issues
- Monitor revenue/expense activity for all properties that fall under the team and make corrections as necessary
- Process weekly property payables for check and EFT payments
- Initiate bank wires and ACHs based on client's requests
- Assist in the budgeting process
- Lead process for onboarding/offboarding of new properties/clients
- Oversee property taxes
- Oversee property insurance payments
- Coordinate completion of year-end financial packages for tax reporting purposes
- Fulfill audit requests as necessary
- Recommend and implement process improvements
- Hire and train Financial Accountants
- Assisting in other projects
- Proficiency in the use of 10-key calculators and personal computers, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and accounting software.
- The ability to analyze financial statements is absolutely required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in a business environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure, with daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly deadlines.
- Well-developed organizational skills. Ability to prioritize duties and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work successfully as part of a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a service-oriented background and mentality
- Ability to operate office machinery; including but not limited to: telephone, computer, adding machine, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, printer, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds on an occasional basis.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field is required. CPA certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Minimum five experience in property management and accounting. A general real estate background is helpful. Experience with Yardi software is a plus.
