What is the opportunity?
RBC CUSO (Combined US Operations) and Bank Georgia, N.A., a US subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada, are known for their deep passion to provide US Banking services for Canadians living, working, and travelling in the United States. RBC Bank's "Cross-Border" solutions are designed to meet the unique needs and challenges Canadians face south of the border including but not limited to the ability to access and link their Canadian and US Banking accounts, perform Cross Border Transfers and leveraging their Canadian credit standing and existing banking relationships with RBC for purposes of obtaining credit/loans in the US.
Operating within the first line of defense (1LoD), this role will direct and lead the Office of IT Risk & Controls responsible for establishing, enhancing, and sustaining an effective Risk and Control oversight and operating environment for Information Technology in accordance with RBC CUSO and RBC Bank's IT Risk Management Frameworks/Policies/Standards. The role will work with other 1LoD Technology Directors, Audit and Regulatory Examiners to ensure RBC Bank's Technology control environment is adequate and adhered to control and oversight expectations. The role will also lead and execute on the strategic vision of RBC Bank's control environment, constantly evaluating and enhancing RBC Bank Technology Risk & Controls Office as necessary to support an evolving and changing risk landscape. The role will manage a team of Program/Project Managers, Supplier Managers, Risk Analysts, and Security professionals to address Technology Risk and action plans. The role will also be responsible for 1st line oversight and reporting of RBC Bank Technology risk and control environment as demonstrated and communicated through Bank committees.
What will you do?
- Define, monitor, and execute testing and application of RBC Bank's IT Risk & Control Office
- Maintain operating independence of IT Risk Management Oversight, controls testing and validation commensurate with RBC Bank Risk Management practices and risk appetite
- Pragmatically strengthen alignment between RBC Bank and Global Risk Management through policies, standards, and leveraging of RBC solutions and methodologies as appropriate
- Develop and prepare regulatory and audit responses for Regulatory Matters Requiring Attention, and other RBC Bank Technology Audit response to Findings
- Manage and oversee action plans for Regulatory Matters Requiring Attention and remediation of Audit findings in adherence to terms/schedule
- Provide reporting to senior management and executive committees for MRA and Audit remediation progress and oversight meetings
- Review key audit, regulatory and client due experience issues to develop and communicate risk themes and solutions to the broader Technology team
- Engage with local and global teams to assist with the prevention of complex emerging global threats such as vulnerabilities, malware, data loss and intrusion attempts
- Manage a team of IT Risk Control Analysts, Supplier Managers and Program/Project Managers addressing Technology Matters Requiring Attention
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 7 years in the financial services or other regulated industries
- 5 years of experience with regulatory exams and engagements, preferably with the US Federal Reserve (Fed) and Office of Comptroller and Currency (OCC)
- 5 years of experience in development of IT Risk Frameworks and or application of IT Risk Controls and Reporting
- 3-5 years in a delivery organization
Nice-to-have
- Knowledge of Project Management (PMF) process/disciplines
- CRISC or other Information Security Certifications
