Our team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to help innovate and build new services from the ground up that will make security and innovation simultaneous for AWS product teams. We are a team of out-of-the-box thinkers, who iterate quickly, and constantly raise the bar. Key job responsibilities:
- A Software Development Engineer on the Mechanic Core team is responsible for the core of the Mechanic product. Mechanic is a multi-tenant centralized service that is the control plan for operator actions across Amazon. As a member of the team you will be expected to lead independent projects from problem definition in partnership with Product, design, implementation and release new capabilities.
- SDE's are expected to be at home writing code on across the stack in various languages (Python, Go, Java, etc..)
A day in the life:
The Mechanic Core team seeks to embrace agile development and iterate with the tightest feedback loops possible. We maintain daily contact with our customers and exercise our mandate to reduce operator toil by inventing new customer focused features that enable our colleagues in Amazon to deliver better.
A normal day on our team involves customer interaction, feature development and collaboration. We work as a team, support each other and keep our operational load as low as possible so we can focus on delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
