Location: Houston office (Hybrid for any TX or LA resident)

Job Type: Regular Full-time (40 hrs)

What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time risk assessor to support and advance our national operations with an emphasis on Texas and Louisiana. Qualified candidates will have an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in biology, toxicology, or related field and at least 20 yrs. experience in human health toxicology, aquatic ecological toxicology, and risk assessments. This position will involve a balance of technical leadership, project management, business development, and staff mentoring. Project opportunities are expected to include risk assessments associated with contaminated sites, remediation, restoration, sediment characterization, emerging contaminants, impingement and entrainment studies, and biological effects of wastewater discharges.

Responsibilities:

The position will manage and provide technical oversight to risk assessments and site investigation activities including: development of risk assessment work plans and conceptual site models, negotiation with regulatory agencies on such work plans, direction of field data collection to support risk assessments, toxicity assessments, data analysis, conducting and reporting of risk assessments, and developing risk management strategies for our clients. Project work will also include risk-adjacent efforts, including sediment characterization for dredging and the beneficial use of dredged material projects, bioavailability and bioaccumulation analyses, benthic community assessments, natural resource damage assessments, and preliminary remediation goal determination.

Successful candidates will have experience with project management, client interaction, and agency interaction. The position will also participate in business development activities related to risk assessments, site investigations, remediation, and restoration. As a technical leader, the successful candidate will also be responsible for mentoring staff, growing our capacity to win work, and positioning Anchor QEA to take advantage of future industry trends.

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in biology, toxicology, or related field
  • 20+ years of professional experience in consulting, industry, or governmental agencies
  • Strong communication and writing skills

  • Leadership and project management experience on high profile risk assessment and ecotoxicology projects
  • Experience with impingement and entrainment regulations, wastewater discharge permitting, bioaccumulation, and wetland delineation and restoration
  • Participation in professional organizations such as the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry
  • Expertise demonstrated by presentations, publications, awards, expert testimony, teaching, or other leadership roles
