The Role:
As the Director of UVA Academic Networks, you will lead a team of 22 dedicated professionals, including a n operation s manager with 10 reports and 11 network engineering and distribution direct reports . This dynamic team is responsible for the management of all wired and wireless networking, intranet access on the Academic side of the University, and various other University locations.
Your role is to shape the strategy for network evolution in terms of services and technology. You'll be at the forefront of change, interfacing with both private and public cloud and storage teams within the Enterprise Infrastructure organization. In addition, you will have a direct impact on our customers, collaborating with ITS customer support functions to resolve escalations, complex issues, and consult on challenging solutions.
What We're Looking For
  • Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience with Network Architecture. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Network Expertise: You should bring a solid background in designing and operating large-scale networks.
  • Management Skills: With at least 3 years of management experience, you have the leadership skills to guide and inspire your team . Demonstrated project management skills for network-oriented work activities are essential.
  • Best Practices: Demonstrated experience in Network operations best practices, including reliability, change control, root cause analysis, CMDB, and documentation (ITILv4 practices).
  • Communication: Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are a must , as you'll be interfacing with various teams and stakeholders.
  • Certification: A CCNA or equivalent certification is optional for this management position but a technical plus factor
Compensation:
Anticipated hiring range: $1 7 0,000 - $190,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Position Compensation Range: $91,329.00 - $182,658.00 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required. Equivalent combination of experience, education and/or certifications may be substituted in lieu of degree. Master's Degree Preferred.
Experience: 5 years.
Licensure: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
