Amazon is looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class Infrastructure Delivery Edge Technician to provide hands-on support for its Data Center locations.


About You:

You are someone who is highly autonomous, very detail-oriented, and possesses very strong written & verbal communication skills. You will have previous hands-on technical troubleshooting experience and a proven ability solving complex problems. You possess strong technical knowledge of fiber optics and networking equipment.


You will have experience building relationships with internal and external teams/customers along with innovating effective solutions to meet issues & problems as they arise. You maintain high standards for data center cabling and maintenance. You seek out ways to improve yourself and the processes and systems with which you work.


This role involves 60% travel, including international travel. Candidate must be able to accommodate travel requirements.


Key Job Responsibilities:

As an Infrastructure Delivery Edge Technician in Amazon, you will help build and maintain a Cloud Computing Infrastructure across a number of local and remote locations in the Asia Pacific region.


Your day job will include (but is not limited to):

  1. Triaging and repairing data center fiber optic cabling/systems and network hardware
  2. Troubleshooting network installation and configuration
  3. Coordinating remote hands for new capacity installations
  4. Resolving data center facility issues
  5. Coordinating remote hands and eyes for any data center network issues
  6. Participating in small to mid-size projects creating or expanding data centers
  7. Building relationships with remote facilities to ensure swift response times to events
  8. Performing site audits to ensure safety and quality meets standards
  9. Improving all operational processes and security with each site
  10. Decommissioning cabling and network hardware as needed

A Day in the Life:

Days are typically project planning or on-site project execution on that plan. The planning phase will involve obtaining project requirements which would have a standard template to start and then tailor for the specifics of the project. On-site work would involve monitoring vendors and configuring networking equipment with the support of a remote networking team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in computer science or management or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of Linux, UNIX administration
  • 2+ years experience in triaging and repairing data center fiber optic cabling, systems, and network hardware with proven expertise in troubleshooting network installation and configuration issues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships and resolve issues effectively.
  • Understanding of distributed and service-oriented architectures.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles, with a strong interest in improving project execution.
