Role Overview
Tableau GPT brings the revolutionary generative AI experience to Tableau business at scale from viz generation, analytic search/assistant/question answering to insights recommendation and generation. The VP of Software Engineer for this GAI team is to hire and own an exceptional data science and ML engineering team, strategize, architect, and deliver the innovative, world-leading Generative AI solution in Tableau while ensuring it meets Salesforce’s stringent data privacy, security, residency, and compliance goals. Responsibilities
- Partner with Tableau leadership and Salesforce's GAI teams to define and refine the strategy and roadmap of Tableau GPT.
- Lead the planning and development of high-quality and highly available AI services.
- Partner with Product Managers and Technical Program Managers to closely track progress across multiple workstreams and deliver goals for varying stakeholders.
- Manage and lead a high-performing GAI team, retaining top talent and investing in continuous employee development.
- Effectively communicate and develop collaboration within the team.
- Identify opportunities for improvements in processes and culture within the teams and the larger engineering organization.
Required Qualifications
- A related technical degree is required.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with predictive AI and generative AI technologies.
- 10+ years of experience building, scaling, and maintaining large-scale, complex AI products and/or services that operate 24x7.
- Demonstrated ability to manage AI and engineering teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational and project management skills. Ability to work optimally in a distributed team setting.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $257,400 to $411,800. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
