Join the Henry Ford Health Medical Assistant Apprenticeship , a unique 12-month program designed to provide you with paid on-the-job training and academic support as you work towards becoming a Registered Medical Assistant.
Position Overview:
As a Medical Assistant Apprentice, you will work under the direct supervision of a mentor to provide quality and compassionate care to patients. Key responsibilities include:
- Greeting and escorting patients to exam rooms.
- Measuring and recording height, weight, and other vitals.
- Demonstrating competency with computerized charting systems such as EPIC.
- Assisting clinical staff with patient care.
This apprenticeship allows you to gain hands-on experience in both outpatient/ambulatory clinics and inpatient settings at the Main Hospital Campus, preparing you for a rewarding career in healthcare.
Program Details:
- Work Schedule: 16 hours per week at a Henry Ford Health clinic.
- Academic Support: Attend Medical Assistant courses at Jackson College.
- Tuition: Fully covered by Henry Ford Health.
- Additional Support: Michigan Works! may provide assistance with books and scrubs to eligible participants.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Enrollment to an accredited ABHES or CAAHEP Medical Assistant Program.
- Agree to obtain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate through the Henry Ford Medical Group's education department.
- Outstanding attendance and commitment to both work and academic responsibilities.
Commitment:
Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification exam. In return for this unique opportunity, you will be required to commit to working full-time with Henry Ford Health for two years.
