Position : Programs & Events Associates
Status : Part-Time: Variable Hours
Hours : Days and Hours dependent upon need
Reports to: Marketing and Events Manager and Director of Education
Position Overview:
The Programs & Events Associates will support Coastal Roots Farm's Education and Events Departments with public-facing programs and events as well as private events. This position is responsible for implementing farm experiences by providing a safe, clean, fun, and educational experience to all Farm visitors, set up and breakdown of events, and guiding all Farm visitors.
The Programs and Events Associate position is year-round with more available and extended hours during peak season May through September. Candidates should be available during the evenings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Physical Duties:

  • Set up and take down equipment including chairs, tables, AV systems, projector, lights, water stations, waste removal, and other necessary items.
  • Ensure all facilities are clean, organized, and safe for visitors and staff.
  • Facilitating the proper organization and cleanliness of event spaces.
  • Welcoming guests to the Farm and facilitating check-in.
  • Inspecting inventory to ensure proper supplies.
  • Serving food and drinks to attendees.
  • Cleaning and returning equipment to proper storage space.
Administrative Duties:
  • Provide high levels of customer service.
  • Utilize Salesforce and Square for point of sale, data entry, and other relevant financial exchanges for taking payments at events.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Uphold and enforce all necessary safety precautions.
  • Lead Farm Tours and attend team meetings as appropriate.
  • Food Preparation and Cooking.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication, computer, sales, cash handling, and time management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • High levels of attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a high energy team environment.
  • Experience working in customer service.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with food preparation, catering, or serving (not required).
Compensation
$16-$17 per hour depending on experience.
Typical Working Conditions
The Programs & Events Associate will work mostly outdoors and occasionally in the office. There will be exposure to Southern California outside temperatures, chemicals used in the agricultural industry, and loud noises. This position requires lifting and moving heavy furniture and equipment and standing for long periods.

Continuous walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs., cutting, and carrying. Able to walk a minimum of 0.5 miles on uneven narrow trails with elevation gain.

We share organic produce with those who need it most and connect people to compelling Jewish ideas and traditions through farming and food. We distribute food through our on-site pay-what-you-can Farm Stand, pop up mobile farm stands, and donations to hunger relief organizations. Coastal Roots Farm was incubated by the Leichtag Foundation in 2014 and received 501(c)(3) public charity status in 2015.
