Responsibilities*

  • Be a senior subject matter expert
  • Independently perform primary job activities, analyze options, and make decisions
  • Define detailed requirements, analyze needs, and validate solutions
  • Conduct accessibility testing and deliver reports
  • Ensure web content and systems meet accessibility standards
  • Manage services according to established practices
  • Lead and contribute to projects
  • Provide guidance and training on accessibility best practices for different audiences
  • Collaborate with the IT community to promote and improve accessibility
  • Manage accessibility compliance during system upgrades and new developments
  • Participate in programs and groups focused on digital accessibility
  • Develop communication channels with disability communities for feedback
  • Establish partnerships with leading organizations in accessibility research and education to stay at the forefront of solutions

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in related fields (Information Science, Computer Science, HCI) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years in a role demanding confidentiality, customer service, and independent work
  • Understanding of building accessible products for all users, including those with disabilities
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 guidelines and WAI-ARIA specifications.
  • Proficiency in accessibility testing tools and techniques
  • Experience teaching accessibility concepts to non-specialist audiences

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience in service management, or service design
  • Managing or mentoring student staff
  • General knowledge of system development methodologies

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.

Additional Information

The Digital Accessibility Analyst is a senior position in the Information Technology Services (ITS) Accessibility Team at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus. This position can currently be performed remotely or on site. Individual remote work agreements are reviewed on a yearly basis.
