Leading in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Gallagher Asphalt Corporation, the Senior Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating and conducting bid preparation of multiple small- to mid-sized concurrent heavy highway projects, including, but not limited to, asphalt, concrete, and earth work. The Senior Estimator maintains schedules and deadlines for their projects and works directly with customers to ensure complete understanding of the project plans.
The ideal qualified candidate should have 5+ years of heavy highway, earth, and/or concrete estimating experience, as well as ease in navigating project work within a digital environment. This is an on-site role at our headquarters in Thornton, IL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project estimating : Accurately perform all aspects of quantity take-off, estimating, cost control for job budget set-up and reporting, including the timely management of Change Management, fair and reasonable cost negotiations. Low-cost/best-value calculations and follow project close-out methodology including post-project analysis.
- Leadership : Help develop and train project engineers and estimators. Work with senior leadership to set clear and attainable goals for project teams. Participate in training opportunities to increase technical and leadership competencies, mentoring key associates.
- Communication : Promote and support good internal and external relationships throughout all divisions and departments of Gallagher Asphalt Corporation, with clients and the general public.
- Safety : In coordination with the Safety Director and Project Superintendents, promote a safe working environment by example and enforcement. Knowledgeable in all safety and regulatory requirements (including, but not limited to, OSHA, MSHA, Environmental, Employment).
Key Qualifications:
- 5 years minimum of experience in heavy highway, earth, concrete, excavation, underground, and/or roadway estimating.
- Leadership experience (People and Projects).
- High attention to detail.
- Driver's License with clean driving record.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and establish a proactive approach to Values Based Leadership.

- Conflict management.
