The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced human immunology and virology laboratory as well as in a clinical or home visit setting. The phlebotomist will support the work associated with multiple clinical research projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing phlebotomy home visits using the employee’s vehicle, delivering samples to the lab for processing in a time-dependent manner, and scheduling phlebotomy in home or in clinic visits. The successful candidate will demonstrate vigilance in patient safety, protocol compliance, data quality and have solid computer skills. Hours are Monday-Friday, 10 AM to 2 PM (flexible).Job DescriptionJob Duties:Obtain blood specimens from patients by performing venipuncture. Adhere to Penn Medicine’s policies and procedures and conforms to all safety practicesSecures, delivers and ships clinical specimens as required by the study protocol.Contact study participants to schedule phlebotomy visits including follow-up and pre-visit reminders.Serve as a liaison between research study participants, study team and Project DirectorProperly label samples and register/record in LabVantagePerform additional duties as neededQualifications:Phlebotomy certification and 3-5 years of experience in phlebotomy with pediatric experience preferred. This position requires excellent oral and written communication, strong working knowledge of basic computer skills and solid problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with clinicians, researchers, patients, and families is required. Certification in pediatric phlebotomy and experience with accessing electronic medical records is preferred.
