Staff Backend Engineer

Boston – hybrid working

Salary: Up to $200k + package!

My AI focused start-up client is looking for an experienced Principal/Staff Engineer to join their growing team in Boston!

Responsibilities

1. Passionate and enthusiastic Senior backend engineer who understands AI systems.
2. Work closely with the engineering team, working on early product development, including designing and implementing a foundational new platform.
3. Balance trade-offs for performance and usability for our initial customers. We want our platform to be easy to use, and for customers to get results fast.
4. Collaborate with external researchers, design partners, and early customers.
5. Solid stakeholder communication.
6. Lead and coach junior engineers and help them upskill in the backend space.

Requirements

1. 6+ years of full-time industry experience building and operating production systems with Python.
2. Experience in modern cloud using tools like Terraform, CI / CD, etc.
3. Experience with frameworks like Django, Flask or FastAPI.
4. Solid public Cloud experience ideally in AWS.
5. You’re a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and open-ended technical challenges.
6. Experience leading and growing small engineering teams with a particular focus on Backend Development.
7. You can balance building high quality, secure software with prioritizing company goals.
