Job Requirements / Description

Responsibilities:

  • Design the merchant underwriting policy and merchant onboarding procedures for the US merchant acquiring business to satisfy merchant risk management requirements based on card schemes' Global Acquirer Risk Standards (GARS) and US card scheme rules.
  • Conduct thorough KYC/KYB and underwriting due diligence on prospective merchants to ensure they meet US acquirer merchant risk requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on new products, platforms, and payment channels. Design end-to-end anti-fraud risk controls, including developing Business Request Development (BRD) documents for system processes. Collaborate closely with other teams within the IRM team, the risk product team, and the risk tech team to drive the development of risk tech enhancements.
  • Connect with the business team to ensure our risk controls support sustainable business growth, and adjust the risk control level based on risk exposures and business targets in a timely manner.
  • Partner with broader risk and data teams, including strategy, modelling, technology, and product teams, to develop risk-mitigating solutions and intelligent risk capabilities.
  • Design and maintain key risk metrics for different business lines. Review risk triggers and thresholds, and recommend changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in merchant underwriting and merchant risk management at a US credit card acquiring bank or payment processor/facilitator.
  • Strong knowledge of the credit card industry or merchant acquiring industry required. Knowledge of payment industry, B2B, B2C, or e-commerce business and processes preferred.
  • Relevant experience within Financial Crime, Fraud Operations, or AML environments within banking, e-commerce, remittance, online payment, or a similar regulated organization preferred
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate on a diverse range of topics to multiple stakeholders. Confidence in challenging senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and problems in a dynamic environment.
  • Analytical mind with excellent data collection and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in both Chinese and English preferred.
  • BSc/BA in engineering or a relevant field. Advanced degree in statistics, mathematics, finance, risk management, or a relevant field preferred
