Position Specific Description
The Tax Fixed Asset team at NextEra Energy is responsible for supplying fixed asset information to support the compliance, planning, and forecast functions of the tax organization. This role will also support state income tax planning and compliance functions. The team focuses on ensuring accurate, complete, and timely information is provided to support the company’s compliance and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain and monitor Fixed Asset related accounts including costs, depreciation, transfers, gain/loss on disposal, and asset retirement obligations.
• Provide reports and analysis for compliance, tax accounting, forecast, and tax planning needs.
• Work cross-functionally with all areas of the tax organization to support the account reconciliation process.
• Serve as liaison with the Partnership team for actuals and forecast to ensure tax compliance, planning, and forecast requirements are delivered effectively.
• Identify and implement improvements to existing processes using technology and innovation.
• Prepare the monthly fixed asset forecast and assist with preparing the monthly tax forecasts for NextEra Energy and subsidiaries.
• Analyze capital forecast variances and summarize key drivers.
• Provide technical and analytical support for M&A activities, tax planning initiatives, legislative monitoring, and state audits.
• Demonstrate the ability and willingness to prepare complex unitary and standalone tax returns, estimated tax payments, and extensions as needed.
Must Have Skills:
• Ability to understand business requirements and transform them into solutions that deliver timely and accurate results.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills.
• Skilled in using Microsoft Office tools: MS Excel, Power Query, PowerPoint, Word.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Desired Skills:
• Prior experience with financial accounting and tax processes and systems such as SAP ECC, SAP BW, PowerPlan, BNA, CorpTax, ONESOURCE Tax Provision, etc.
• Knowledge of Energy & Utilities domain and processes.
• Exposure to automation and process automation tools such as RPA, Alteryx, Power Automate, etc.

• Prepares and reviews federal/state/local income tax returns, schedules, extensions and payment estimates in line with the company’s tax filing calendar
• Conducts financial and economic analyses, developing and preparing the organization’s financial plans and budgets and interpreting financial reports and tax returns
• Researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims
• Prepares tax calculations to support tax controversy analyses
• Conducts tax assumptions in project models
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
